Gosheni Safaris Receives Another Certificate of Excellence Award
“We treat our customers not as paying individuals but as guests/friends visiting Africa,” says Peter Robert, Managing Director and Founder of Gosheni Safaris.
Today, Mr. Peter Robert talks about the inspiring success of Gosheni Safaris. Before the inception of Gosheni, Peter was a tour guide and driver himself. He has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro as a guide and to say that he has trekked different routes of the mountain a thousand times already is not at all an exaggeration.
Question and Answer With the Man Behind it, Peter Robert
Q: What made you decide to put up your own company?P: To make a difference in the industry because I have learned so much from experience as a tour guide and wanted to give the same experience to others.
Q: What’s the most rewarding part of being in the safari industry?P: It’s like having something you’ve been so passionate about your whole life and then finally having the chance to share it to the rest of the world, and also earn money from doing it.
Q: What’s the biggest challenge in the industry?P: In Tanzania, the biggest challenge we have at this moment is the infrastructure. For example, driving from Ngorongoro to Serengeti, which is both top safari destinations, can be very challenging because of the roads.
Q: How is Gosheni different from the other companies/competitors?P: I’m sure we are very much alike in a lot of ways but we take pride for being 100% locally-owned and that our excellent reviews on TripAdvisor attest to our commitment to provide quality tours where clients can trust us to deliver the amazing holiday they have looked forward to. We treat our customers not as paying individuals but as guests/friends visiting Africa.
Q: What’s the secret to Gosheni Safaris’ success?P: Consistency in delivering your best. Treat every customer very well regardless if they are booking a budget or a luxury tour. Honesty comes before profit. If you build your reputation, profit will follow. Income should not be your only focus. Also, work with the right suppliers you trust and respect them, too. If you have a good relationship with all of these people, from your guides to staff and suppliers, they will be happy to look out for your business.
Q: How do you see Gosheni 5 years from now?P: We want to become a full-fledged African specialist, not just in Tanzania but all throughout Africa.
Q: What’s your advise to people who has not been or are still considering to visit Tanzania?P: I’d say, just do it. You will not regret it and you may even thank me for convincing you to do so. Tanzania is not just any destination, it’s an experience like no other. You will not only see the planet of the animals but also experience rich African culture that has survived for centuries.
