This 100 km journey will take you to your next safari camping destination set within the Mababe Community Trust Consession lining the famous Khwai River with its world-class and prolific African wildlife. You are guaranteed to meet pods of hippos and life-size crocs lazing around the river banks. African wild-dogs are among some of the rarest mammals to spot in the wild, they are highly endangered. At the Khwai, you have a better chance to encounter these amazing animals than most other wilderness areas in Botswana. The campsites at Dizhaana are set close to the Khwai River. They have wood fired hotwater showers, running water and a toilet set in a small private reed and thatched unit on each campsite. The constant grunt and groan of hippos and fish eagle calls are iconic of this area.

From camp it is also easy to venture further afield to explore other concessions in the area. Wildlife action from the comfort of camp isn't half bad either! Elephant, waterbuck, impala and a diversity of birds frequent the camp area. At the Khwai you have a chance, better than you have in other wilderness areas, to encounter packs of highly endangered African wild dog. This area is also a birders delight. For photographers, both sunrises and sunsets set over the river with its hippo pools make for incredible scenes. The campsites have fire places for cosy camp fires. Depending on your preferences and time schedule, today, still holds a game-viewing boat cruise, a short guided bush walk on the island, lunch, dinner and stories shared around the campfire at night-time. Xobega is also a perfect place to unwind and enjoy African wilderness in comfort. Xobega is intimate and private, allowing you to connect with the local staff should you wish to do so. You have an opportunity here to learn more about Botswana culture. The Okavango Delta is one of Africa's last remaining great wildlife habitat and provides refuge to huge concentrations of game. It is a truly mesmerizing experience. You will be briefed by Xobega staff but be on the lookout for the resident elephant bull on the island in and around camp!
