Volunteer with your experience

Bring what you know to Tanzania.

Retired, or senior in your field? Spend a few weeks with our team in Arusha sharing what you know, explore the country while you are here, and keep helping from home if you like.

Where you can help

Your experience, put to work

We are a Tanzanian safari company in Arusha. A few weeks with someone who has done this kind of work for years can change how our team works for good.

  • Marketing and online sales

Search, social and email campaigns that bring travellers to us directly.

  • Leadership and management

How a growing team plans, sets priorities and makes decisions.

  • Finance and accounts

Pricing, cash flow and the numbers behind each trip.

  • Operations and hospitality

Guest care, lodges, vehicles and running trips that go to plan.

  • Technology and websites

Our website, booking tools and the systems the team uses every day.

  • Photography, video and writing

Photos, films and stories from the parks that show what a safari feels like.

  • Training and mentoring

Coaching our guides, sales and reservations staff in what you know best.

  • Something else?

Tell us what you know. If it helps a safari company, we want to hear it.

How it works

From first message to your first week

  1. 1

    Tell us about yourself

Your experience, what you would like to share and when you might come.

  2. 2

    A conversation

A few written questions, then a call with our team to see where you would make a difference.

  3. 3

    Agree the role together

What you will work on, for how long, and the support we can offer, in writing.

  4. 4

    Come and explore

Work alongside our team in Arusha, see the parks, and carry on from home if you like.

What we offer

A team to come home to, and a country to explore

What we can offer depends on the role and the time you give. We agree it with you in writing before you travel.

  • For everyone

A local team that hosts you, and introductions around Arusha.

  • Safari discounts

Reduced rates on our safaris, for roles where you give real time.

  • A place to stay

For longer roles, we may arrange or share accommodation.

Questions

What people ask first

Is it paid?

No. This is volunteering: you give your time and experience, and you get to know Tanzania with a local team rather than as a tourist.

What does Gosheni offer in return?

It depends on the role and the time you give. Everyone gets a local team to host them and introductions in Arusha. For longer or larger roles we may help with accommodation or offer a discount on safaris. We agree this with you before you travel, so nothing is a surprise.

What do I pay for?

Plan on covering your own flights, travel insurance and day to day costs, unless we agree something else for your role.

Do I need a special visa?

The rules for volunteering in Tanzania depend on your nationality and what you will do here. We go through the right permit with you before you book anything.

Can I help from home instead?

Yes. Many skills, like marketing, finance or technology, work well remotely. You can also help here first and carry on from home.

Is there an age limit?

No. We welcome people who have retired, and people still working who want to give some time. What matters is what you know and that you enjoy sharing it.
