Barangwe Pan

Thobolo's Bush Lodge is a chalet lodge and campsite overlooking Barangwe Pan in northern Botswana, about 108 km south-west of Kasane on the road towards Savuti, Moremi and Maun. The chalets each have two en-suite bedrooms, air conditioning, a tea and coffee station and their own deck facing the pan, and family chalets sleep up to six. There is a swimming pool and free Wi-Fi, and the campsite has hot showers and a viewing deck. It works as an overnight stop on the long drive between Chobe and the Savuti or Moremi areas.

Okavango Delta

Gunn's Camp is a small tented camp on the Boro River in the Okavango Delta, looking across to Chief's Island on the edge of Moremi Game Reserve. It has six Meru-style tents on raised platforms, each with an en-suite bathroom, a standalone bath and a private outdoor shower. Raised wooden walkways link the tents to the main area, which has a lounge, library, dining area and swimming pool. Activities are water and foot based: mokoro trips, motorboat outings, guided walks, fishing and island sleep-outs.

Victoria Falls

Avani Victoria Falls Resort is a large hotel inside Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Livingstone, Zambia, on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. Its grounds cover about 46 hectares, and zebra, giraffe and impala move freely between the buildings. Rooms and suites have balconies over the gardens, pools or the lagoon, and the resort has pools, the Mukuni Boma for outdoor dinners and the AvaniKids programme. Guests get access to the Falls, and activities such as Devil's Pool swims, rafting and flights over the Zambezi can be booked from the hotel.

Okavango Delta

Xobega Island Camp is a simple tented camp on a private island in the Okavango Delta, just off the Moremi mainland and reached by boat from the Mboma or Xakanaxa boat stations. It has ten Meru-style tents with twin beds and open-air bathrooms, with bucket showers and chemical toilets, and the camp runs on solar power. Boat cruises through the surrounding channels are the main activity, along with guided island walks and birdwatching. It suits self-drivers and fly-in guests looking for a water-based Delta stay at a lower cost than most camps.

Okavango Delta

Rra Dinare is a Kwando Safaris tented camp on the Gomoti River floodplains in the south-eastern Okavango Delta, in a private reserve bordering Moremi Game Reserve. The name means Father Buffalo, a nod to the large buffalo herds in the area. There are eight tented suites and one family suite, each with an outdoor shower and a private deck over the floodplain, linked by raised walkways around a large marula tree. The camp runs on solar power and has a pool and firepit deck; activities include day and night drives, walks and seasonal mokoro trips.

Chobe National Park

Chobe Safari Lodge is a large riverside hotel on the banks of the Chobe River in Kasane, a short drive from Kasane Airport and the Chobe National Park gate. Accommodation ranges from safari, river and family rooms to traditional rondavels, and there is a campsite with powered stands. Restaurants and the Sedudu Bar look across the river towards Sedudu Island, and the lodge also has swimming pools and the Kwa Maningi Spa. Boat safaris on the Chobe River, game drives in the park and day trips to Victoria Falls all start from here.

Victoria Falls

Maramba River Lodge sits on the Maramba River inside Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, about 4 km from Victoria Falls and Livingstone in Zambia. Accommodation is a mix of thatched chalets, family chalets and safari or glamping tents, set under mopane and mahogany trees with views of the river or a waterhole. The lodge has a riverside restaurant and bar, a swimming pool and indoor and outdoor play areas for children, and elephants sometimes walk through the grounds.
