The destination

About Aberdare

The Aberdare Range rises to almost 4,000 m north of Nairobi, a national park of cloud forest, giant-heather moorland and spectacular waterfalls such as 273 m Karuru. This is the realm of elephant and buffalo in the mist, rare black rhino and bongo antelope, and black leopards of legend. Its signature experience is the tree-lodge night watch: floodlit waterholes at The Ark draw a procession of wildlife while guests watch from the verandas, the same experience that made Treetops famous when Princess Elizabeth became Queen here in 1952.
