Ol Kinyei was among the first community conservancies in the Maasai Mara ecosystem, 18,700 acres of prime savannah leased directly from Maasai landowners, with just a handful of small camps allowed to operate. The result is the Mara at its purest: big cats and big skies with barely another vehicle in sight. Conservancy rules permit night drives, off-road approaches and guided walks that the national reserve cannot offer, and every bed night funds the families whose land this is.
