The Experience
The Highlands is an Asilia camp on the forested slopes of Olmoti Crater in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, at the highest point of the region and about an hour from the Ngorongoro Crater. Its eight domed suites are built from canvas and perspex, each with a wood-burning stove and en-suite bathroom with hot water, and include a family suite and a honeymoon suite with an outdoor hot tub. A central lounge dome with a fireplace, a dining area and a small spa with a sauna complete the camp. Besides crater drives, guests can hike Olmoti or walk down into Empakaai Crater to see flamingos.
