About Nyungwe Forest National Park
Nyungwe is one of Africa's oldest montane rainforests, a vast, mist-wrapped canopy across Rwanda's southwest sheltering chimpanzees, thirteen primate species and over 320 birds including 29 Albertine Rift endemics. Hundreds-strong troops of Ruwenzori colobus crash through the trees like weather. Its signature thrill is East Africa's only canopy walkway, swaying 70 m above the forest floor. Add chimp trekking at dawn, waterfall trails and tea estates at the forest edge, and Nyungwe rounds out Rwanda's primate trilogy.
