June opens the long dry season, the classic safari months begin here. The migration masses in the Serengeti's Western Corridor, where the first dramatic river crossings of the year unfold at the crocodile-guarded Grumeti. Skies are clear, mornings crisp, and wildlife concentrates around shrinking water sources in every park.
Southern Africa is superb too: Kruger, Chobe and the flooding Okavango all hit their stride. In Rwanda and Uganda the forest trails dry out for ideal gorilla trekking. June sits just before the peak-season crowds and prices of July and August. Book ahead all the same.

Calving season on the southern Serengeti plains: thousands of wildebeest born daily, dramatic predator action, lush scenery and strong value at the lodges.
The quietest, best-value months. Landscapes are at their most dramatic, birding is exceptional, and gorilla trekking in Rwanda and Uganda stays superb.
