Day by Day
3-day Serengeti safari itinerary
You will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha, and from there we drive to Serengeti National Park. The drive takes you across the plains and into the park itself, where your first game drive follows in the afternoon. Keep your eyes on the grasslands as you go: lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, zebra and wildebeest all live here, along with gazelles, eland and wild dog, and at certain times of the year the wildebeest migration moves through the Serengeti. Later in the day you continue to Enkirari Wilderness Camp, where dinner is served and you spend the night.
Tomorrow you remain in the Serengeti for a full day of game driving along the plains, before the tour continues to the Ngorongoro Crater on your final day.
You spend the whole of today in Serengeti National Park, with a full day of game driving across the plains. After breakfast at Enkirari Wilderness Camp, you set out with your driver-guide and stay out for the day, following the tracks and the movement of the herds rather than rushing back to camp.
The plains are home to lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, eland, wild dog and gazelle, and crocodiles can be found in the rivers. Which of these you come across is never certain, but your guide will read the signs and use the hours to put you in the best possible places to watch them. Lunch is taken out in the park, and you return to camp in the late afternoon with time to rest before dinner.
Tomorrow you leave the Serengeti behind and drive to Ngorongoro for the crater tour, so an early night is worth considering.
You leave the Serengeti early this morning and drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you descend into the crater for your tour. The crater floor is a world of its own, with grasslands, a soda lake and acacia woodland supporting a dense concentration of wildlife. Lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras and gazelles are all possible here, along with the chance of spotting a black rhino. You will also take in the blue-green views from the crater rim before making your way back up.
After the crater tour you begin the return to Arusha, travelling through the highlands and passing villages and farmland along the way. You arrive in the evening, when you are dropped off at your hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included today.
