8-day Tanzania migration safari itinerary
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, one of our experienced driver guides will be waiting to welcome you. From there you will be driven to Arusha Town, roughly 55 kilometres away, which takes about an hour, and on to your reserved hotel. Settle in, unpack at your own pace and take the evening to rest after your flight.
You stay overnight at Gran Melia Arusha on a bed and breakfast basis, with dinner included this evening. Tomorrow morning, after breakfast, your driver guide will collect you from the hotel with your lunch packed, and you will set off for Tarangire National Park, about 120 kilometres away, for your first game viewing of the safari. An early night is worthwhile, as the drive leaves in the morning and the day ahead is a full one.
After a tasty breakfast, our driver guide will pick you at your hotel together with your lunch and drive you to Tarangire for game viewing. The park is well known for large number of elephants that congregate here, as do many wildebeest and zebras. There are also significant population of impala, giraffes, eland and buffalo. Each day is different here, but we focus of course on the Great Migration, that unique natural wonder which involves a cast of breathtaking numbers, literally hundreds of thousands of animals as they make their annual journey across the plains.
Zebra and wildebeest are the most numerous of the migrating animals here, grazing on the short-grass plains of the Southern Serengeti and the northern part of the Ngorongoro Conservation area. But your driver-guide will also be on the lookout for other wildlife, too, using his expertise and ‘eagle-eyes’ to try to find elephant, lions, buffalo, leopard and cheetah, just some of the many, many species you will encounter in this stunning place. Drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at Enkirari Wilderness Camp, you leave the Central Serengeti behind and game drive en route to the Seronera Airstrip. The drive keeps you in the park to the very end, so keep your binoculars close as you cross the plains one last time; lions, cheetahs, elephants and giraffes are all possible along the way. Your guide times the drive so that you reach the airstrip with time to spare before your 10am flight to Arusha.
The flight from Seronera to Arusha gives you a final view of the Serengeti from above, with the plains and woodland falling away beneath you. On arrival in Arusha, your safari comes to an end, with lunch included and a vehicle ready to take you on to your onward arrangements. Baggage allowance on the flight is 20kg, so pack accordingly the night before.
