Overview
9-day Serengeti migration safari
Our 9-day Serengeti migration safari follows the herds through Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Central Serengeti and Ndutu from January to March.
This safari has been designed specifically to focus on and to increase your chance to see the great Serengeti wildebeest migration. The Southern Serengeti and Ndutu areas in Tanzania are the best locations for the months of January, February and March to witness thousands of wildebeest spread across the plains grazing on the rich short grass plains. Predator action is at its peak with great sightings of cheetah, lion, hyena and leopard and a very good chance to see adrenalin packed kills.

9-day Serengeti migration safari itinerary
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you'll have a meet and greet with your tour guide and then proceed to your accommodation in Arusha.
Arusha is a city in East Africa's Tanzania, located at the base of volcanic Mt. Meru. It's a gateway to safari destinations and to Africa's highest peak, 5,895m Mt. Kilimanjaro, lying some 100 kilometers northeast.
After your breakfast, we'll proceed to a full-day game drive at Lake Manyara National Park and then proceed to your accommodation by twilight.
Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants.
Wake up early for breakfast and then proceed to a morning game drive. Resume game drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a tour. In the afternoon, we'll drive to Serengeti National Park and to your accommodation for your overnight stay.
The jewel in Ngorongoro's crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq km in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be seen here.
After breakfast at the camp, we continue with the game drive and then proceed to Seronera, the central part of the park.
Serengeti National Park.. the park is well known for its healthy stock of other resident wildlife, particularly the "big five", named for the five most prized trophies taken by hunters: Lion: the Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem. African Leopard: these reclusive predators are commonly seen in the Seronera region but are present throughout the national park with the population at around 1,000. African Elephant.
Proceed to another game drive after breakfast and in the afternoon, proceed to South Ndutu Area for the wildebeest migration viewing. By twilight, we'll head to your accommodation for your overnight stay.
Lake Ndutu is alkaline, like most of the other Rift lakes, however, the water is still drinkable and used by a wide array of local wildlife. Late afternoon game drive in the Ndutu area. The majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short-grass plains from December to April. The area is usually heavily populated with elephant, birds and resident game.
We will resume wildebeest migration viewing after breakfast and back to the lodge in the evening.
Explore the range of different habitats that include swamps, woodland, soda lakes and the world famous Serengeti short grass plains. See great herds of wildebeest and zebra. During a short time frame around February, normally lasting for about 3 weeks, the majority of the wildebeest calves. The sea of grass provides little cover and the young are easy pickings for a variety of predators. Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd.
We'll continue the game drive in the morning after you had your breakfast and in the afternoon, we'll proceed to Arusha directly to your hotel accommodation.

Day 9 begins with breakfast at your hotel in Arusha, with the rest of the day free for you to spend as you wish. You could relax at the hotel, or head into the city to explore at your own pace, perhaps visiting a market, a craft shop or a café before returning to your accommodation.
In the evening, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home or onward to your next destination. This brings your nine-day safari to a close, after the days spent in Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, the Central Serengeti and the Ndutu area, where you followed the wildebeest across the short grass plains.
