Overview

Lake Manyara National Park Day Trip with Walking Safari

Lake Manyara National Park lies at the foot of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, about two hours from Arusha. In a small area it packs in thick groundwater forest, open grassland, hot springs and the shallow lake itself.

Game drives here bring baboon troops, blue monkeys, elephants, giraffe, buffalo and hippos, and the lake draws a huge number of birds, including flamingos in some months. Manyara is also known for lions that sometimes rest in the trees.

The day includes a walking safari with an armed park ranger, a different way to see the park on foot, before the drive back to Arusha.
