About Kabale
Kabale is the market town of Uganda's far southwest, set 2,000 m up among terraced hills so green and steep the region is nicknamed the Switzerland of Africa. It is the gateway to Lake Bunyonyi, the 'place of little birds', whose 29 islands make it East Africa's loveliest (and bilharzia-free) swimming lake. Dugout canoes, island walks and Batwa cultural visits fill a restful day or two between Bwindi's gorillas and Rwanda's border.
