About Nyero
The Nyero rock paintings, sheltered beneath massive granite overhangs in eastern Uganda, are among Africa's most important ancient art sites, concentric circles, canoes and geometric symbols painted in red and white pigment, attributed to Batwa hunter-gatherers and dated back many centuries. Six painted shelters dot the kopje, reached by a short guided scramble with sweeping views over Teso country, a thought-provoking cultural pause on the road to Kidepo or Sipi Falls.
