About Lake Eyasi

Lake Eyasi, a shallow soda lake beneath the Eyasi escarpment southwest of Ngorongoro, is East Africa's most compelling cultural safari stop. Its dry acacia woodland is home to the Hadzabe, one of Africa's last true hunter-gatherer peoples, and the Datoga, skilled pastoralists and metalworkers. Guests join Hadzabe hunters at dawn with bows and honey-gathering fires, then visit Datoga bomas and forges. Flamingos gather on the lake in season, and the light over the escarpment at sunset is unforgettable.
