About Olpopongi
Olpopongi is an award-winning Maasai cultural village and museum on the West Kilimanjaro plains, built and run with the local community. Unlike a quick roadside boma visit, Olpopongi invites guests to spend a full day or night: walking with warriors through the bush pharmacy, learning spear throwing and fire making, and sharing stories and song around the evening fire. Overnight guests sleep in traditional (but comfortable) mud-and-thatch houses with Kilimanjaro filling the dawn horizon, one of Tanzania's most genuine cultural experiences.
